John and Debi the night John proposed

In Case You Didn't Know....

Debi and John met in 1983 when they worked together at the TGI Fridays in La Jolla. Debi was the "hostess with the mostess" and John was a barback. Their age and flirtatiousness led to a beautiful first date at Pax in La Jolla w here groomsmen Jim Kalatschan tended the oyster bar. Their budding romance was derailed when John's immature hormones misfired and he asked Debi's roommate out the next day. Debi swore John off forever as boyfriend material but they remained friends.

A few months later they became roommates at an animal house in La Jolla (with groomsmen Jim and Guido) where they got to know each other extremely well and their friendship deepened. Shortly after Debi moved out John when on an eight month trip to Europe where he had a chance to ponder his loneliness and the "one that got away". Upon his return he threw himself at Debi's feet and Debi flatly rejected him (paybacks are a bitch!).

Their life paths diverged for awhile. Debi married Andy Marino and John, Jordan and Cameron's mother Riki Fox. Their paths intersected again when the four became partners in the Blue Collar Grill. The restaurant was fun and they met many of their good friends there, but it put a strain on everyone. When Debi divorced Andy, John was there offering his support. Debi returned the kindness when Riki became ill and passed away. Their friendship continued to grow and Debi fell in love with Cameron and Jordan… and eventually John too!

They became a couple in December of 2000. Five years later John found the courage to ask for Debi's hand on the veranda of St. Clement winery in Napa Valley the day after her birthday, August 20TH, 2005. Twenty-two years later Debi forgave John and said yes! They plan on living happily ever after. They want you to know how much it means to them that so many of you are making the trip to Calafia to watch this circle close forever.
